Leigh Alexander, MSTCM, L.Ac., Dipl. O.M., CMT

I am a licensed acupuncturist specializing in the Classical Five Element style of Acupuncture. Previously I had been working as a Financial Software Consultant/Analyst which I found to be very demanding, stressful and eventually not at all fulfilling. Once I realized I wasn’t happy, I knew I couldn’t sustain that level of stress in my life much longer, so I embarked on a discovery process to find something I could do that was enjoyable and sustainable for the long term.

As it happened, I had been receiving acupuncture treatments for ten years and I loved the benefits I got from them. I also appreciated the focused and gentle way my acupuncturist worked with me. I realized I was drawn to the healing arts, so I started reading about Oriental Medicine. I interviewed several acupuncturists and found I was fascinated with how they worked and with the concept of wholeness. Once I was clear that I wanted to become an acupuncturist, I returned to graduate school. I had no background in medicine or science so it was a daunting prospect, but with the support of my family I quit my job and took the plunge.

I graduated with a Master’s degree from the American College of Traditional Chinese Medicine (ACTCM) in San Francisco, and I also completed a two-year Advanced Study Program of Classical Five Element Acupuncture. Although I’m qualified and have my own practice, I continue to participate in Five Element Acupuncture Training with Khosrow Khalighi and Shirley Nichols, foremost Classical Five Element practitioners and instructors in San Francisco. I’m licensed with both the State and National Boards to practice acupuncture and oriental medicine.

In addition to my patients in my Lodi clinic, I’ve treated patients at the CPMC Stroke & Rehabilitation Center, the Jewish Home of San Francisco (a retirement home), and the ACTCM Community Clinic.

I love the Five Element style of acupuncture and I find practicing it to be extremely energizing. I hope never to retire and I relish the thought that this is something I can do for the rest of my life. To be able to partner with my patients on their path towards true and lasting health and vitality gives me great satisfaction and joy.

I am also a Certified Massage Therapist having completed over 650 hours of Shiatsu Massage training.

I grew up in the Bay Area and had a practice there for some time.  I recently relocated to a small ranch near Burson, Califonia, 24 miles east of Lodi. I’m an avid and passionate equestrian. I own two Paint horses, Lester and Rico, and I drive a Clydesdale draft horse called Mikey. I live with my two cats and Lucy, my Pembroke Welsh Corgi. All of the equine, feline and canine members of my family receive great benefits from regular acupuncture treatments.
